NOTE: Internet Explorer requires a slightly different setup depending on how you connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- Click Use automatic configuration script in the Automatic Configuration dialog box
- Enter this URL in the box labeled Address:
-
http://library.stanford.edu/apcproxy/suproxy.pac
NOTE: Under “Automatic Configuration”
and “Proxy Server” make sure all
other options are unchecked
and all other fields are blank or greyed-out.
Also, make sure to enter the complete URL shown here.
It's best to copy and paste the URL from
these instructions, but be careful not to enter any spaces before
or after it.
The dialog boxes differ slightly for LAN settings
[View Image] or dial-up settings.

- Click OK.
PROXY AUTHENTICATION
Internet Explorer is now configured to use Stanford's
proxy server for resources that are restricted to Stanford users. Any other
Internet connections will not go through the proxy server.
When you connect to a restricted resource, you will see an intermediate screen
that provides a link you can follow to the remote site. If you have problems getting to any pages on the site,
please fill out this problem report form.
TURNING PROXYING OFF
- You shouldn't need to turn proxying off unless you are
using a laptop that is sometimes connected through the Stanford network and
sometimes connected from off-campus.
If you need to turn proxying off for any reason, simply
return to the Automatic Configuration dialog box as described above.
Click Use automatic configuration script to uncheck this option
and then click OK.
