Winter Closure Hours 2007-2008

Monday, December 24, 2007 through Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Winter Closure and Winter Intersession Hours for 2008-2009 will be
available by the end of November 2008.
Stanford University Libraries and Academic Information Resources (SULAIR) will have a reduced schedule of operations from Monday, December 24, 2007 through Wednesday, January 2, 2008.

Winter Intersession Hours are from December 15-23, 2007 and January 3-7, 2008 and differ from the Winter Closure schedule. SULAIR will also have a reduced schedule of operations during the intersession.

Limited Service Details

The following services will be limited or unavailable during the winter break (December 21 - January 2):

  • Socrates will be available for searching only.  Request links for recalls, paging, etc. in Socrates will be unavailable.
  • From December 21 through December 25, the Availability Status of items in Socrates will NOT be updated.  Items which are available may appear as Checked Out, and some Checked Out items may appear as available.  The Availability Status of all items will be updated on December 26.
  • There will be no Searches for Missing Items.  Searches will resume on January 3, 2008.
  • Interlibrary Borrowing and RLCP: Throughout the winter closure patrons can continue to submit ILB and RLCP requests.  Requests will not be processed until Thursday, January 3, 2008.  Patrons should expect a delay in receiving requested materials.
  • Interlibrary Lending will be unavailable from December 13, 2007 - January 2, 2008.

Green Library will be open December 26-28, 31, and January 2, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with these limited services.:

  • The Loan Desk and the Privileges Office will be open.
  • The Information Center Desk and offices will be closed. We will provide only limited email reference and there will be no processing of interlibrary requests for the entire period.
  • The Velma Denning Room and SSRC reception desk will be closed.
  • The Social Sciences, Humanities & Area Studies offices will be closed. Curators, subject specialists, and most library staff will not be available for consultation.
  • With the exception of the closed areas, all space, collections, and computers will be available; however, we will not be shelving new materials or reshelving materials.

Stanford Auxiliary Libraries (SAL1&2, SAL3, and SAL-Newark) - There will be no paging December 21, 2007-January 2, 2008.

Branch Libraries

  • Circulation desks will be open for borrowing only. Reference services and the processing of document delivery, interlibrary loans, holds, recalls, and course reserves will resume on January 3, 2008.
  • Physics Library is closed for construction. Depending on progress, the library may reopen during the week of January 7, 2008.
