Six new digital collections added to SearchWorks
Six new digital collections are now available in SearchWorks. These new collections were all created using SDR Online Deposit and take advantage of SearchWorks' ability to provide users with rich discovery and access capabilities for finding and working with digital collection content.

Water in the West is a partnership of The Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and the Bill Lane Center for the American West and includes faculty, staff and students from the natural, physical and social sciences, law, business and humanities who engage in interdisciplinary research and teaching about freshwater. The mission of Water in the West is to design, articulate, and advance sustainable water management for the people and environment of the American West. We pursue our mission and vision for a sustainable water future through cutting-edge research, creative problem solving, active collaboration with decision makers and opinion leaders, effective public communications, and hands-on education of students (the “next generation” of problem solvers). We thus work to achieve more effective water management for both today and the future.

This collection includes theses authored by Stanford graduate students from a variety of schools and representing a broad range of scholarly disciplines. Established in 2014, the collection supports the preservation, sharing, and re-use of the research output of the University, particularly for those graduate programs for which there is no formal or mandatory requirement for thesis deposit.

The City Nature project combines spatial analysis of parks and other natural areas in 40 large US cities with text mining of planning documents to explore why nature is unevenly distributed amongst and within them.

The integration of digital collections into SearchWorks means that items from collections containing digital material can be discovered in the course of searching and browsing through the totality of Stanford's vast library catalog.
