Archival recordings from CCRMA now streaming online

To correspond with the Triple CCRMALite concert and symposium this weekend (Oct 26-27, 2014), the Archive of Recorded Sound and Stanford Media Preservation Lab recently worked to digitized and make available a number of historic performances from Stanford's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics. These recordings, from the CCRMA Tape Archive (ARS.0037), are now available to stream via the Triple CCRMALite website.    

Triple CCRMALite will celebrate three important milestones: John Chowning's 80th birthday (founder of CCRMA); the 50th anniversary of the first computer music performance on campus (a stack of punch cards from Max Mathews at Bell Labs); and the 40th anniversary of CCRMA's inception. Since its founding, CCRMA has become one of the most important and noted multidisciplinary centers for computer based musical composition in the United States. 

The recordings that have been made available to stream, which feature performances from the late 1970s and early 1980s, were transferred by the Stanford Media Preservation Lab from original reel-to-reel masters. They have been made available to stream thanks to the generous permission of the composers featured.
