East Asia Library services under shelter-in-place order

The East Asia Library is following the general guidelines set down by the university and Stanford Libraries under the current shelter-in-place order. Updates: 

As of August 6, the East Asia Library has resumed some paging and pickup services.

As of June 22, limited access to the East Asia Library has been restored. 

As of April 20, Interlibrary Services has begun to accept requests again.  Currently, interlibrary loan requests are limited to lending and borrowing of e-resources only - no physical media are being shipped, and no local scanning is taking place.  Stanford users may place requests for articles and book chapters only at this time.  More information can be found at the Interlibrary Services page.

Course Reserves

We ask that instructors submit their course reserve requests for Spring Quarter as quickly as possible, using the online reserves request form. Under the shelter-in-place order, the libraries are operating with limited staff and consequently we will not be able to place physical items on course reserve or digitize print materials for use in Spring classes. However, we will work with instructors to find solutions to make e-resources accessible, including purchasing ebook versions of print titles for course reserve use when possible. E-Resources

The East Asia Library is committed to doing everything that we can to make e-resources accessible during these times. We are continuing to explore available e-resources as we seek to support faculty and students during this time. If you have questions regarding e-resources at the East Asia Library, please contact the relevant librarian.  Faculty and students who require digital copies of library resources may submit a digital item service request and the Libraries will attempt to purchase copies.

Circulation and Access

• Due dates:
  Due dates of materials due 6/12/20 have been extended to 9/21/20. Quarterly loans were also changed to 9/21/20 and annual loans to 6/30/21. Materials charged out to users with expired or expiring privileges before 9/21 were not extended.
• Renewals:
  The renewal limit has been set to 0. Patrons may renew materials for an unlimited number of times through My Account, as long as there are no outstanding bills or fees.
• Bill notices:
  All bill notices have been turned off. Patrons should not be receiving bill notices at this time.
• Recalls and paging:
  Recalls are currently unavailable. Paging of materials for pickup at Green Library and the East Asia Library has resumed. Please visit our request and pickup page for more information on which materials can be paged to which locations.
• Book returns:
  The East Asia Library book return box is closed, as are all other branch book drops. Patrons can return library materials to the book drop by the main entrance of Green Library (the entrance that faces the red hoop fountain). Although the materials will be retrieved, they will not be checked in until normal circulation operations resume.
