Professional activities 

Nathan has presented at the Music Librarians Association California Chapter meeting, the Society of California Archivists Annual General Meeting, the Society of American Archivists national convention, on use of sonata form in composition at a humanities symposium, served on a NEH grant review committee, and had an article published in the Society of American Archivists Recorded Sound Round Table newsletter. Currently he is working with an international consortium organizing piano roll meetings.

More about me 

 

Prior to entering professional librarianship Nathan worked as Jazz Director, managing the on air talent and the jazz collection at an NPR affiliate. His performing experience included venues ranging from Avery Fisher Hall to the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. He studied horn with David Jolley, Kendall Betts, and Pete Nowlen.

In addition to musical pursuits, Nathan has won awards for his underwater photography and his photos of the California marine environment have been used by NOAA and Save our Shores in support of ocean conservation.
