2014 Conference

LAMDevConX

In 2014, we wanted to broaden our reach into neighbouring and allied communities in cultural heritage and memory institutions to spread across Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums. Archives were a major focus of the discussion, and we strongly encouraged Museums and Galleries to participate.

In order to manage the increased number of participants, registration was required at EventBrite before the event.

To focus the discussion to benefit the largest proportion of the community, we solicitted topics before the event in a Google Document.

Important details

The deadline for Registration was Wednesday, April 16th, with a total of 73 registered participants.

The event took place Monday, April 21st through Wednesday April 23rd, with limited additional space for breakout hack groups or other meetings available on Thursday and Friday of that week. The event started at 9am and continued through 5pm, with coffee available starting at 8:30 every day.

The locations used were the 4th Floor of the Cecil H. Green Library, Escondido Mall, Stanford, CA 94305 and room 341 of the same building.   You can find maps of campus, the free Marguerite shuttle service and similar on the Parking and Transportation site.

Logistics

Travel and accomodation is at your own expense. Additional logistics info is available at the Hydra wiki

Getting to Stanford: San Francisco is the closest major airport (IATA: SFO), and there are multiple options for getting to Palo Alto from there. The easiest and most cost efficient is Super Shuttle, however BART/CalTrain is feasible with a change at Millbrae (get off at Palo Alto station).

Hotels: Near by hotels include Stanford Terrace Inn, the Westin Palo Alto, the Sheraton Palo Alto, and Best Western Plus Riviera.

Food: Some food was provided, with many options for dining on campus or near by. Details are in the Social page.
