Reference help

Reference is offered to Stanford faculty, staff, and students from any department on campus. The Science Library is staffed with subject specialists assigned as liaisons to both respond to and anticipate the information needs of students, faculty, and researchers. These subject specialist librarians are available for one-on-one consultations by phone, e-mail, or in-person.

Workshops and training sessions

The Science Library offers training sessions by appointment in the use of the library; in searching SearchWorks, BIOSIS, and other library databases; and in finding literature in the sciences. A training session may be combined with a tour of the library or offered separately.

Library tours

The Science Library offers orientation tours of the library during the Fall Quarter.  Advanced registration is required (max 15 users per session).  Tours of the Science Library will begin at the circulation desk and last about an hour. Please email Science Library or stop by the Science Library circulation desk to sign up for a session. 

The Science Library also offers tours of the library by appointment for any group or individual. Preference is given to persons who are affiliated with Stanford University. For large classes, a series of tours for groups of ten or fewer persons may be required. Please email Science Library or contact (650) 723-1528 to schedule a tour for an individual or for a class or other group.
