How to request an item from another library

1. Check Stanford Libraries collections first—we probably have it and can help you find it.

• SearchWorks Catalog: books, e-books, journals, and media titles (not indexed for articles, chapter or full-text level searching)
• SearchWorks Articles+: best place to search for article citations
• Citation Linker
• Proquest Dissertation & Theses Global
• HathiTrust Digital Library: millions of full-text books; be sure to log-in for expanded full-text access!
  

2. If it isn't available at Stanford, place a request.

Stanford faculty, students, staff, and visiting scholars may submit Interlibrary Borrowing (ILB) requests. Requests must support teaching, learning, research, or other University-related work. Please use your public library for personal items. Copies of articles or book chapters are usually delivered via email within a couple of days. Books, microfilm, or other media are usually delivered within 14 days.

• Stanford faculty, students, and staff (SUNet ID required):
• Request a book or media
• Request an article or book chapter (pdf)
• School of Medicine, Stanford Hospital and Clinics, and LPCH staff and faculty must use Lane Medical Library's DocXpress Service.
• SLAC staff must request purchases through their departments.

You can also suggest items to add to our collections (SUNet ID required).
